One of my favorite books is Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan and when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it.  When I come across a book that is just incredible, I have to share it with everyone. That is a big reason why I started a book blog.  Becoming Calder by Mia Sheridan is one of those books I find THAT amazing..

Description:
There is a place in modern day America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition.
In this place, there is a boy with the body of a God and the heart of a warrior. He is strong and faithful and serves his family honorably. But he dares to dream of more.
In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.
Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places... From the beginning of time, to the end of the world.

This story is about Eden and Calder. Both live in a word that is not like modern day America.  Eden & Calder struggle with the beliefs of their society but must not act upon their desires to want more of everything in life.  In this society, Eden is seen as a gift, the very reason the society is an existence. Eden lives withe more of the modern take technologies but does not have any choices of her own.  Calder is a worker. The workers do not live in a normal society. They have no access to running water, electricity, etc.  Calder wants to be more.. he wants to know what the Big Community is like.
Eden & Calder begin a forbidden friendship. One where they can't act on their true feeling for one another. Eden is discouraged from interacting with the workers.  Calder would be punished for seeking out Eden.  They both struggle with the beliefs of their leader and want their own choices.  Then they beginning a very secret romance.

"I've wanted you for so long.  So long.  Every waking minute, in my dreams, too.  I want to bury myself into you, drown in you, and never come up for air.  I want you to be mine, and only mine."

Their forbidden love for each other takes us on an adventure. We see how difficult it is to be Eden and to be Calder in this society. We watch as their love grows and becomes so beautiful and undeniable.  We watch two individuals gain strength from each other to fight for their own choices.  And we watch a society that is based on their own beliefs and Gods struggle to keep it together.

Becoming Calder sucked me in from the very beginning. There were some chapters you have to grip your chest becomes it becomes unbearable to comprehend a world like this.  Every emotion you could think of is pouring of these pages.  Sadness, Love, Laughter, Hatred, Relief.. you name it, it's there.

When I finished this book, I had to take a breather.. and that is when I knew this book was beyond amazing.  When I have to get my emotions in check before I put my feelings into words.  I'm not even sure all of the feelings could be put down.

Mia Sheridan will be releasing Finding Eden simultaneously with Becoming Calder on October 5th... and thank goodness for that!

"I'd heard it said that when you die, your life flashes in front of your eyes, every moment of it.  But for me, there was only Calder.  There was only him.  Because he was my life"

If you want to read a book that is unique but impactful, Becoming Calder is your book.
